Choosing a childcare provider can take some time and preparation, but by not rushing the process, you will ensure that you have a trusted and competent person or facility giving your child the best possible care.

Structure your child’s alone time at home. By giving your child structured activities, such as reading, outdoor playtime making sure to teach them appropriate bicycle safety, chores if you feel appropriate and other activities, you will make sure that they are not at loose ends to get into mischief, or play video games for hours on end.

Have your child check in when they arrive home, and at regular intervals thereafter at least until you and they become accustomed to the new situation.
